well, ranged dps probably is the best, together with thanks
but don't take shadow warrior, it doesn't give any decent numbers. Sad

on the other hand, keep in mind that balance is totally different in the end-game. (read: better)

The shadow warrior is a bit weak at the start, but they say that it will be the best dps dealer endgame.
So I will have to see that for myself Very Happy

PostSubject: Re: Good RvR/PvP class   Thu Sep 11, 2008 1:46 am

Really leaves me undecided. Sad
I've tried witch hunter, shadow warrior and ironbreaker.

I died quickly as witch hunter, i felt useless as shadow warrior and i had to take too much time to kill as ironbreaker.
:p

Witch hunter has the looks though. Smile
But maybe i should go tank, they're quite impopular (but i dun like sworddancer and i dun like grudge mechanic Mad)

all classes are good for PvP/RvR, it just depends on how you play your char and your skills/abilities/armor/weapons and so on..

You just have to decide for yourself how you want to PvP.

Close combat? Then go Tank or melee dps
Range combat? Then go ranged dps
You like healing more? Then go as an healer.

But most important in RvR is team play and team tactics!

EDIT: btw my personal favorite is Shadow Warrior at the moment.

Yeah in open beta it's really clear for me that no class stands strong by himself.
You're able to manage in pve quests... but in RVR you need a team, as Xelix said!
While you will be able to take down several classes 1on1 when playing a particular class, you will fail 100% against others... that's just how the game is made. TEAMPLAY is the key. Very Happy

as a witch hunter you have to be sneaky, and it gets more fun on later lvls.
there is no such thing as a bad pvp class. you just ahve to find a class thats compatible with your playing style and your likings Wink

the engineer is idd a cool class, but i think its hard to play in rvr. especially in the lower tiers when your turrets deal less dmg

Every class is good , but this game is not for 1on1 , you need to play in a group to score .

i'm playing a BW now, cant say i dont love it Very Happy
yes u die fast
but man i deal damage !
if i get the chance, +3k dmg per spell (aoe spell, 6 players, 500dmg average ...)
so i usually end up topping the damage charts in scenarios

but that said,
without a healer looking after me, i'm worthless Very Happy (sort of speak)

Currently playing with an Ironbreaker and they are decent for PvP and RvR, but quite hard to get going.
Their main point is that they need to take damage in order to use their better attacks, wich can sometimes cause a few problems.

am i right that they don't lose grudge as long as they're fighting?
in which case i'd say: don't forget you have a ranged attack. Smile

but indeed, you still need to build it up first. :/

Depends, you have to take direct damage (Or from AoE) to get grudges.
So basically you have to pull most of the aggro.

I disagree, witch hunters are awesome when it's not too crowded. They're like rogues in wow with some hunter aspects, they got stealth, they do good melee dmg, they got burst with moral ... Got to agree that they're pretty weak if you're not backed by a healer, but you can run and even go stealth while in combat Razz! But ok, i played sorcerer too, they even die faster lol ... and for me close combat + kite at right time > just shooting some fireballs Razz

I tried most of the order classes ... witch hunter is more my style , and I love it at the moment . it is intended to sneak up and attack from behind . when you do , you deal a huge amount of damage in a few seconds .... but dont just run in like a black orc and start bashing :p
